Nugget already had one custom piece inspired by his famously round little pose. So when Halloween came around, we did not want to simply repeat the same idea with a few pumpkins added.
This time, the goal was to keep the part that still felt unmistakably Nugget: his tiny snack-focused pose, round body and familiar expression, then build an entirely different Halloween world around him.
The final Halloween hamster wall rug combines stained-glass windows, little ghosts, glowing jack-o’-lanterns and warm fall colors, while Nugget himself still looks like the hamster his family knows.
A New Season, a Completely Different Nugget
Nugget’s first custom rug focused on his compact shape and simple silhouette. For this second design, we wanted the scene itself to do more of the storytelling.
Instead of dressing Nugget in a costume or changing his personality, we kept his natural pose and let the background create the seasonal mood.
That became the idea behind the entire piece:
Keep the pet recognizable. Let the setting tell the seasonal story.
It Started With One Very Nugget Photo
The reference photo was not a styled pet portrait. Nugget was simply sitting on the floor with his head down, completely focused on his food.
That ordinary little moment was exactly what made the photo useful.
We kept his rounded body, lowered head and tiny paws close to the food instead of replacing the pose with something more dramatic. Those details helped the finished portrait stay connected to a real Nugget moment rather than becoming a generic Halloween hamster.

The First Halloween Ideas Were Not the Final One
The first concepts were playful. One placed Nugget inside a pumpkin candy basket, another used a large pumpkin with a Halloween message, and another surrounded him with friendly ghosts.
Nugget’s owner liked the candy basket direction and shared one small but useful thought: a jack-o’-lantern would feel more Halloween than a regular pumpkin.
That feedback helped us understand the mood they were looking for, but instead of simply editing the first idea, we kept exploring.
“The candy basket would be great to use.”
“Maybe a jack o lantern would be better.”

Then the Stained Glass Direction Clicked
The final direction changed the whole composition.
Three tall stained-glass windows became the backdrop, with little ghosts and jack-o’-lanterns worked into the colorful panels. Autumn leaves and a glowing pumpkin filled the lower part of the scene, while Nugget stayed in the center with the same snack-focused pose from the original photo.
The pointed window shapes also created a much more interesting custom outline than a standard square or rectangle.
When the finished artwork was shared, the response was simple:
“This one looks amazing and I love it ❤️”
No additional design changes were needed.

From Final Artwork to a 30 x 28 in Wall Rug
The approved artwork was turned into a 30 x 28 in custom-shaped wall rug using 1350 GSM faux silk.
Instead of trimming the piece into a regular rectangle, the finished edge follows the stained-glass arches, floor and pumpkin. This allows the outer shape to become part of the artwork itself.
Our faux-silk wall rugs also include four hanging hooks, making the finished piece ready for wall display.

Fast Production, Made in California
Once the artwork is approved, the piece moves into our California production workflow. Most approved custom orders ship within 72 hours after final design approval.
For Nugget’s Halloween piece, the final artwork was approved on August 31. The shipping label was created the same day, and the package was delivered on September 9.

When Nugget Met His Halloween Portrait
The best comparison came after the finished piece arrived.
With Nugget sitting beside the wall rug, the connection to the original photo becomes easy to see. His round body, dark eyes and snack-focused pose are still there. The only difference is that this familiar little moment now sits inside an entire Halloween scene.
The finished wall rug also appeared in videos shared by @5hitbox, giving a closer look at its real size, texture and shape on the wall.

“It Looks Exactly Like My Pet”
After the piece arrived, it received a five-star review:
“The rug was perfect for Halloween. Very nice quality, looks exactly like my pet. 🐹”
That last part is what matters most to us.
A seasonal design can include ghosts, pumpkins, stained glass and plenty of color, but the pet should still be the first thing its family recognizes.

Questions About Nugget’s Halloween Design
Can an everyday pet photo work for a Halloween design?
Yes. Nugget’s original photo did not have any Halloween decorations. What mattered was that his pose and features were recognizable. The seasonal setting was created around that real moment during the design process.
Can I request changes if the first concept does not feel right?
Yes. Nugget’s project explored several different Halloween directions before reaching the final stained-glass concept. Feedback about the candy basket and jack-o’-lantern helped us understand what felt right and continue refining the idea.
Does a custom-shaped wall rug have to follow only the pet’s outline?
No. Nugget’s piece is a good example. Instead of cutting only around the hamster, the finished outline follows the stained-glass windows, floor and pumpkin. For designs with a larger scene, allowing the background to become part of the shape can make the finished piece feel more complete.
